Meet Derek

Derek started The Systems Effect because he kept meeting owners who had built something real and were trapped inside it. The business could not run for a day without them, and every "vacation" came with a phone that never stopped.

He has spent his career inside owner-dependent businesses across very different industries, from real estate and staffing to construction, healthcare, and professional services. That range is the point: the vehicle changes by industry, but owner dependence looks the same everywhere, and so does the fix.

On engagements, Derek runs discovery like a diagnosis, not a pitch. He asks more questions than he makes statements, because the answers already live inside your team. His job is to pull them out, pressure-test them, and put your dollars against the gap that actually keeps you trapped, not the one that is easiest to sell.

He also holds TSE to its own standard. The company runs on the same portal, automations, and weekly scorecard it builds for clients. If a system is not good enough for TSE to run on, it is not good enough to ship.
